The star has handed over the complete sum of his £25k award prize money to the Music Venues Trust, which functions to protect the United Kingdom's independent concert spaces.

He was given the cheque on October 16 as his latest record the album was declared the top album of the previous year.

The musician has decided to hand the money over to the trust, in acknowledgment of the vital role local spots fulfilled in his early career.

"As an artist couldn't be pursuing this success if it wasn't for all the gigs I performed around the region, and elsewhere, when I was just getting going," remarked Fender. "These venues are renowned, but they are struggling."

From early 2023 onward, at least 150 of these spaces have shut down – about 16% of the total UK scene.

Over the past year, top acts like Pulp, the group Coldplay, Katy Perry and Sheeran have all aided the Music Venues Trust in its initiatives to support the industry, by applying a modest fee to their ticket costs, which benefits smaller concert halls.

Fender also participated, collecting more than £100,000 on his live tour to assist numerous small stages across the UK.

The donation supported locations that were dealing with possible closure due to challenges caused by water damage, fire incidents and personal losses, as well as permit problems, legal disputes and neighbor objections.

Additional spaces obtained monetary aid in upgrading facilities and gear that positively impacted artists and fans.

"The idea that funds from shows in major spaces backs the local stages, where it kicks off for musicians like me, is just sensible," Fender has stated.

Fender is far from the only musician to give his honor winnings to good deeds.

In Pulp won the trophy in the mid-90s for their release the album, lead singer the singer stated that the band would contribute their winnings to the non-profit the charity.

During 2002, rapper and singer she shared her bounty among a few organizations, such as the NSPCC and a charity for Sickle Cell.

"Additionally, I contributed a £1,000 to Highgate Newtown, to their classes, because I did gymnastics when I was younger and they required better apparatus," Ms Dynamite shared with outlets.

Previously, they donated their funds to the local youth club that developed their group, in addition to other grassroots music organisations.

Also the 1994 recipients they contributed their prize to a charity for MS after a acquaintance was found to have the illness.

"Receiving the award was ample," stated vocalist Heather Small. "The money was the extra but we didn't need the bonus, because we had the main prize. So our success touched another person's life."

Last week, the MVT shared it had rescued a couple of local spots in south-east England, by transferring them to community ownership.

The first in Southampton and the other in Bristol were bought under the community ownership program, which is funded by the arts council and enthusiasts who acquire "ownership units" in the properties.
